Roundup: Central Catholic cruises past Sierra, Ceres gets first win at Beyer's expense

Oakdale 47, Weston Ranch 10, at Oakdale -- Zeke Saffar rushed for 108 yards, while Peyton Bradford had two sacks, six tackles and a fumble recovery.

East Union 39, Kimball 27, at Manteca -- The Lancers won an back-and-forth affair against the Jaguars.

Big Valley Christian 42, Turlock Christian 0, at Modesto --The Lions had little trouble with the Eagles and improve to 4-1 on the season. Javyn Drobnick rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

Merced 55, El Capitan 0, at Golden Valley H.S. -- Since 2004, Bears head coach Rob Scheidt has lost one game to crosstown rival Golden Valley, once to ancient rival Atwater, and never to the Gauchos. The man simply produces wins against his archrivals. The Bears will face Buhach Colony next week in a game that has title implications.

Patterson 28, Golden Valley 7, at Patterson -- The Cougars got their first Central California Conference victory and face the high-flying Falcons next.

Los Banos 42, Davis 32, at Los Banos -- Despite struggles in the preseason, the Tigers are 2-0 in Western Athletic Conference play and have a showdown with Mountain House next Friday.

Orestimba 48, Le Grand 7, at Le Grand -- The three-time defending Southern League champion Warriors brace for a showdown next week against Ripon Christian.

Ripon Christian 35, Denair 7, at Denair -- The Coyotes were game, but the Knights were too much. RC will entertain three-time reigning Southern League champ Orestimba next Friday.

Waterford 33, Delhi 0, at Delhi -- After suffering their first loss of the year, the Wildcats resumed their winning ways with a convincing win over the Hawks.

Calaveras 21, Stellar Prep 7, at San Andreas -- Calaveras made its final non-league tune-up before opening up Mother Lode League play next week against Amador.

Bret Harte 48, Linden 28, at Linden -- The Bullfrogs took on former Mother Lode League foe Linden in preparation for its MLL opener next week against Sonora, still the favorite to win the conference title for a fifth consecutive season.

Argonaut 56, Dixon 0, at Dixon -- The Mustangs cruised and will face Summerville next week to open MLL play.
